Vintage Northern Alaskan Inuit Umiak / Kayak & Traditional Alaskan Inuit Kayak and Doll. This wonderful vintage Alaskan Inuit native tribe handmade Umiak / Kayak and Doll set. The doll measures approximately 8" long by 3.5" wide. The Kayak measures approximately 19.5" long by 4" wide. Until recent times, the umiak — which means “open skin boat” in Inuktitut — was the primary method of summer transport for coastal Inuit, used for moving family and possessions to seasonal hunting areas and for whaling expeditions This set is previously owned and being sold as found, due to some broken bindings on canoe, and with losses. As shown in last photo as well as ware to the doll's arm, 1 hand is missing., overall good condition. Please view all photos for the most accurate description.
