The Inno 2-kayak carrier transports 2 river kayaks or other light, compact kayaks on your vehicle's roof rack. The carrier holds kayaks on their sides to leave space on your roof for other gear, and the upright supports fold down when not in use. It includes 2 tie-down straps to secure your kayak to your crossbars. Soft padding on the arms and cradles protects your gear, and the carrier installs easily with clamp-on hardware. Easy Loading The kayak carrier is easy to load from the side or rear of your vehicle. Simply slide the first kayak onto your crossbars and rest it against the support arms. Adjust the kayak so that the cockpit is between the front and rear support arms. If your kayak has a rudder, place the rudder to the front of the vehicle. Slide the second kayak into the cradles furthest from the support arms. Soft padding on the upright arms and cradles protects the hulls from scratches and scuffs. Tie-Down Straps Secure Kayaks Once your kayaks are loaded in the cradles you can secure them with the included tie-down straps. Pass the strap through the loop at the top of the support pole, wrap the strap around your kayaks, and pull it tight through the buckle. The strap buckles are covered by soft pads to protect your boats during transport. Bow/stern tie-downs (IN718 - sold separately) are recommended to anchor your kayaks to your vehicle. If the kayak you are carrying is longer than 13-3/4" long you will also need an additional strap (IN718 - sold separately) to tie it down. You can carry up to 4 kayaks on your roof with additional cradle kits (INA451 - sold separately). An additional strap (IN717 - sold separately) is also required when carrying more than 2 kayaks. Simple Installation You can install the carrier quickly and easily on your rack without tools. To install the metal support poles, loosen the knob bolts, and release them from the lower mounting brackets. Set the poles on the crossbars and slide the brackets under the bars. Reattach the bolts to the brackets, tighten the knobs, and close the levers. The cradles mount to your crossbars with hand knobs and brackets. Set the cradles in position on top of the crossbars and hold the mounting brackets in place under the crossbars. Thread the knob bolts through the top of the cradles and into the mounting brackets below the bars. Tighten the bolts to secure the cradles in place. Folding Arms The upright arms can be lowered when not in use. Loosen the knob at the arm base and push it in so that you can remove the J-bolt that locks the arm upright. Fold down the arm, reinsert the J-bolt into the lock hole, and tighten the knob to secure the arm in place. Remove the support pad when the arm is not in use. Folding down the arms improves overhead clearance for garage parking.
