Kayak

Everything needed to hold a kayak on top of a vehicle:

• Pair of foam blocks cut on one side to cup the hull and on the other side with a full-length groove to hold a strap or fit over a carrier bar
• Pair of 8-foot straps to strap the blocks securely to the kayak by going around the kayak and the blocks (through the groove)
• Three 13-foot straps to secure the kayak to the vehicle -- one each for front, back and middle.  Middle goes through the door frames or through a factory rack.
• Two short straps, about 20-inches each, in case you need to create a loop through or around something under the vehicle at the front and back for the long straps to go through.  This is much more secure than a hook, which might fall out if the kayak shifts position!
• All straps are made by the word-famous Arno company and have their top-of-the-line stainless steel buckles.  These are not widely sold and are so much better than the typical cam-buckle you find on similar straps.  They are lighter, easier to use and utterly corrosion proof!

Instructions:  Just strap the foam blocks to the kayak.  Put the kayak on top of the vehicle.   Use long straps to secure front, back and middle of kayak to vehicle.   Use shortest straps to create loops around or through something under the vehicle to make it more convenient and secure to attach the front and back long straps.
If planning to use the groove on the bottom of the blocks to fit over a carrier bar, look closely at picture to make sure the profile of your bar will fit the groove.  It will fit a round or square bar, stretching a little bit for the square one, but will not fit a wide flat bar.
Straps are about 1" wide.  Blocks are almost 12" long x almost 4" wide x almost 3" high at their tallest and about 2 1/4" tall in the middle.
